Psychiatrist
Motria Mona Huk, M.D.
Dr. Huk is a compassionate, board certified psychiatrist with advanced training in psychotherapy as well as the medical aspects of mental health. She is respected for her integrity and dedication as well as her diagnostic skill and comprehensive treatment approach. She listens attentively to understand what prevents someone from feeling well. This understanding then directs treatment.
Dr. Huk was born and raised in New Jersey. She graduated from Columbia University with high honors and then pursued her medical training at Rutgers RWJ medical school where she graduated with honors in her psychiatry rotations. After completing her medical training, she started making her way up the East Coast. She completed her psychiatric residency education at Brown University and was then accepted to The Adams House Fellowship at the Faulkner Hospital; this was an advanced psychotherapy fellowship in Boston where she studied for four years. The Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital would become her second home for the next twenty-two years.
There she started working as a psychiatric consultant to the medical teams and emergency room clinicians and years later also worked with the addiction recovery team. Then she went on to become the medical director of the Psychiatric Partial Hospital Program. She stayed in this position for over 10 years. In tandem with her work within the hospital setting, she was the adult psychiatrist for an outpatient group practice called Child and Family Psychological Services. She stayed in this position for 20 years. Dr. Huk also enjoys teaching and has been an instructor in psychiatry for The Harvard Psychiatry Residency Training program and also participated in Harvard Medical School teaching rotations.
In 2015, it was time to explore new opportunities and Dr. Huk accepted a clinical position at Harvard University Health Services where she continues to enjoy working with the students. That same year she set up her own practice to provide excellent psychiatric care without the constraints that are inevitable in bigger systems. Wellness is the goal for each person she meets.
